A drinking poem written by Matsuguchi Getsujo who was born in Fukushima, Japan in the Meiji Period (1868-1912). The poem is based on the story of a good drinker who was awarded a sword as a prize for his drinking capacity. The last part of the poem is a famous song called Kurodabushi, praising the habit of drinking.

Well, this particular album is on my 10-best list for reasons I can't even define. I don't suppose Our Man In Japan Sem can shed any light on the life and career of Shufu Abe? All I can find when Googling is a few mentions on obscure radio playlists. I want more of this stuff. (:
